He tore three of the four ligaments in his leg. The star player’s future suddenly dimmed. The NHL does not come calling fo r what he calls a “gimp.” Still\, he soldiered on\, continuing to pick u p semi-pro games eventually ending up in Israel playing for the National Team. It was here that his able-bodied life would end.Another bad brea k in his leg led him to a hospital where he underwent knee replacement s urgery. Infection set in and eventually\, after two long painful years and a near death experience\, Paul and his doctor decided to amputate th e leg. “June 9th\, 1997 was the best day of my life\,” he says. “I los t my leg\, but started a whole new life that led me to play the best gam e in the world\, representing my country in the Olympics.”As selection c amp begins\, Paul’s life is taking another turn. For the first time in his life he will live on his own. Since moving out of his childhood hom e to get married to his high school sweetheart\, Paul has never gone to his own bed\, in his own home\, alone. But that has all changed. His wi fe of 27 years has asked him for a divorce\, telling Paul she hasn’t lov ed him for the past ten years. It’s devastating news that eventually se nds Paul to the brink of a mental breakdown. 21-year-old Greg\, Paul’s roommate on the road\, is another amp. He has his own set of worries. “I lay awake and think about things like …. I’ve been out on four dates with this girl and she still has no clue that I don’t have feet. I mean \, when do I tell her?” Born with both feet twisted backward\, Greg is still amazed at how lucid his parents were when they made the decision t o amputate their newborn’s feet. “It couldn’t have been an easy decisio n. They had two options: I could have had a series of operations that w ould have saved my feet but left me in a walker for life\, or amputate. They chose to amputate and I’m glad they did.”As Paul life is changing\ , so too is Greg’s. Jean \, a hulk of a man known as “The Rock” is teetering on the precipice of a marriage about to fall over the edge. “My whole life revolves around the hockey schedule\,” he says. My three-year-old son\, my wife\, my jo b … everything revolves around this coming year and the World Championsh ips in Boston.” His wife has been extremely supportive over the years\, but it’s tough on their marriage and Jean vows to try to bring a better sense of balance to his life. Deep within himself though\, he knows th at being a key player on Canada’s national team is one of the most impor tant aspects of his identity and in deep\, personal video journals docum ents his struggles between being a good father and family man with his d ream of winning the gold medal.Team Canada is a target. “Everyone in th e competitive world of elite sledge hockey is out to get us\,” Herve say s. The town\, with some persuasive help from Baron Snodgra ss\, blame the mysterious new stranger for the theft and he is immediate ly arrested.Click Clack Jack visits the Hobo in jail. The Hobo appears to know of some Gold burried on the outskirts of town. He gives Click C lack Jack a map and tells him to 'Have Faith'.The map takes Click Clack to a locked box burried deep in the hills. Realizing that the key he ha s been wearing around his neck since his Father's death when he was just a small boy is the key that opens the box\, questions arise as to how t he Hobo knew this. How did the Hobo know Click Clack Jack's father\, an d how did he come of such a treasure map?Click Clack Jack rushes the Gol d to Barons Snodgrass with the Sheriff just in time. While Click Clack hands over the Gold Baron Snodgrass has a poer struggle with Click Clack over who owns the land the Gold was found on.In the end Click Clack Jac k uses the Gold to buy the Potters Gap from Baron Snodgrass and since so meone came forward and saw one of the Baron's thugs break into the shop and steal the money the Hobo is set free.The film ends with the Hobo rev ealing that he knew his father and that he thought Click Clack Jack shou ld have an old Gold pocket watch with a Train on the outside that belong ed to Click Clack Jack's Father. More questions for another time...Clic k Clack Jack showed the Hobo kindness when nobody else would. Even thou gh he looked wierd and different Click Clack looked at his heart. And i n the end the whole town was saved. As the Hobo leaves town he reveals that he knew his father and knew that the key would open the box of gol d.
